Gleaned from a Picasso painting of the same title, Minotaur and Dead Mare Before a Grotto Facing a Young Girl with Veil depicts two stories which highlight the primitive desires of the conscious human, expulsion from comfort, and an inability to communicate with their closest partners. Both films magnify micro-aggressions caused by these estrangements and touch upon the symbolic aspects of the painting. These metaphors of hardened strength in solitude, loss without proper grief, and the viewer as the “Young Girl”, passively observing the growing distance between the pairs through the passive “veil” of the camera, culminate in a two part short.
